Information Opportunity for special fishing regulations on Wall Lake

Special Fishing Regulations on Wall Lake?
Is there any interest to have special fishing regulations on Wall Lake?  There will be a meeting with Jim Wolters from the DNR to discuss special fishing regulations on Saturday, June 18th at the Elks Point from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.  At the meeting, Jim will explain exactly how the process works.  How do special fishing regulations come about, how long do they last, how are they removed, and answer any other questions you may have.  This meeting will give everyone the information they need to decide whether or not there is any interest in special fishing regulations for one or more species of fish.
After the meeting, I would like to find out from those present how many have an interest in discussing special fishing regulations further and for what fish species; and also how many people have no interest in special fishing regulations.  I will summarize this information and post it on the walllakeassociation.blogspot.com.
If there is enough interest in a special fishing regulation, my current understanding is that we then go back to the DNR to discuss specific recommendations for specific fish species.  It might not be a bad idea to discuss our current thoughts among ourselves before this meeting so we have some idea where everybody is coming from in hopes that this will speed up the process when discussing specific recommendations with the DNR.
Then it seems to me that we will have to have some kind of “vote” for final approval for a specific regulation so that everybody has their say in the matter.  I believe that for any special regulation to succeed it must be supported by the vast majority of lake shore owners.

It just seems to me that there are a number of modest special regulations that could be supported by all lakeshore owners.  If there is no interest in special fishing regulations, then we default to the current state regulations.  But we have the opportunity to make the fishing better if we can all agree to some special regulations.

  1. If this is really needed.
I think if the Board passes a resolution recommending residence on the lake to limit certain species of fish and explain why would be as good as going through a DNR process it will be hard to enforce. pass the word as to why this is a good idea and what out come it has. this would make people think of what they are doing when taking a lot of fish and police themself
